Happy Birthday Denton Joseph Romans!

Since I have been posting my grandkids birthdays, I thought it only fitting to post their parents, my kids.
Denton Joseph Romans turns 30 today, June 26, 2008....a milestone. This is a picture of him with his youngest boy, Rocky.
Denty ( as some of us call him) or DJ ( as Greg calls him) is a great boy..or should I say man. He has always been a good boy and very successful in everything he has done. He served as president of his senior class, as well as president of the Honor Society. He was a great student in school.....graduated with top honors from high school and received his schools highest honor, the Miles E. Godwin scholarship. He also received a trustee's scholarship from BYU which paid for all his extra toys during college. We had planned for his college so he got to use the extra money for pretty much anything he wanted. And he did. Wonder if he still has any of them? He had a great experience at BYU where he met his wife Marissa. But they actually got engaged in Virginia. His master's degree is in information systems and he currently works for Circuit City headquarters here in Richmond. He served a mission to Austria and has been serving in the church ever since. He served as the Elder's Quorum president when they lived in Cleveland, Ohio and is now currently serving as our stake clerk ( I can't believe I am old enough to have a kid doing that.) One of my great memories of him as a kid in high school, was when he went to the church early every Sunday to set up the chairs for the Primary. Sometimes he was the only one that showed up. It was his quorum's assignment for one year but he continued to do it for several more years on his own. I remember the Primary president bringing him donuts to say thanks. Denton loves to cook and is great at it. He makes all kinds of gourmet things from scratch and it is always a treat to go to Denton's house for a meal. This year he planted an amazing garden. He built those square foot gardening boxes.....we can't wait to enjoy all the fruits of his labor. He is also great on the computer and helps me with many things. Denton is a great husband and father. He is very hands on and spends alot of time with his family. He loves to do special things and celebrate in style. They have some great traditions already in their family and it is fun to watch them in action. It sure is fun to have them in our ward and living close....they are only about 5 minutes away.

We are proud of Denton and his great family and love him very much. I feel like I have bragging rights on my own blog.
Happy Birthday big "D".

Denton, As crazy as this sounds I had my 30th birthday when we lived in Richmond just a very short time before we met your family. It's amazing that you keep getting older and I stay the same age. Hope your birthday was a good one.
