ZIPLOC OMELET

ZIPLOC OMELET

I haven't tried this yet but a friend sent it to me and aI thought it was a cool idea. If you try it before me.....send a review back through the blog comments. Suz

This is what was sent: (This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) and add about ¼ cup of milk (if desired ), then shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed .

Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.

Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice omelette for a quick breakfast!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Tess!

Tess Annabelle Romans turns 1 , tommorrow March 31st, her mom's birthday. She is a happy, beautiful little girl. We know she is well taken care of by her older siblings. Happy "6th" Birthday Leo Caroline!

Our little Leo will be 6 on March 20th. She is so smart, she seems much older. She is a good reader and a good memorizer, just like her dad.She did all her Articles of Faith when she was 5 for primary. She is a good big sister and a fun cousin. Although she can shake it up on the dance floor like her mom, she says" she was born to swim" . She loves to cook with her dad. She is happy and obedient. She is very loving.... and grandpa and I love it when she comes and sits with us on Sunday. She is so many wonderful things....we are glad she is our granddaughter and love her very much, as we do all of our grandchildren. They are all so special and unique. What a blessing they are to us.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love St. Patrick's day...corned beef and cabbage, leprechauns, pots of gold, four leaf clovers, and everything green. Probably because I am part Irish and descend from Maggie Maloney. I actually like all holidays and changing my table to celebrate. I change my table and my powder bathroom every month just for the sheer fun of it. This is my March table.

But in case you didn't know the history of St. Patrick's Day.....here it is:

"What day requires a person to wear a certain color or risk being pinched? Yes, of course, it is our beloved St. Patrick’s Day celebrated March 17, which is the anniversary of the death or
St. Patrick. The holiday is known to us for the wearing of the green, baked potatoes or corn beef and cabbage and green beverage. Eyeee, but what do we all really know about this man St. Patrick and
the day that is so widely celebrated?

Records were not kept well back in the day, so an accurate history is hard to piece together. Over the years, the common facts known about the Saint are that, Patrick, possibly named Kilpatrick was born near Dumbarton, in Scotland, in the year 387; died at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland, 17 March, 461. He grew up in an estate as his family was said to have some wealth. When Patrick was yet a lad of about 14, he was captured during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. Ireland at this time was a land of Druids and pagans. He learned the language and practices of the people who held him. Patrick with long periods of solitude turned to the practices of his family which was Christianity. Thus led Patrick to pray and to become familiar with God.

Around the age of 20, Patrick is said to have been led by God to escape his captors and return to Scotland. Once there he began training for the Priesthood and evidentially returned to Ireland to bring Christianity to the land. He was successful in converting Ireland and helped build many churches. Today St. Patrick in the world’s most popular saint.

It is hard to believe but the first St. Patrick Day parade took place not in Ireland but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers to reconnect with their Irish roots. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada, Japan, Singapore and Russia although North America has the largest productions.

In modern-day Ireland, St. Patrick's Day has traditionally been a religious occasion falling during the lential season. In fact, up until the 1970s, Irish laws mandated that pubs be closed on March 17.
Beginning in 1995, however, the Irish government began a national campaign to use St. Patrick's Day as an opportunity to drive tourism and showcase Ireland to the rest of the world. Last year, close to one million people took part in Ireland 's St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin, a multi-day celebration featuring parades, concerts, outdoor theater productions, and fireworks shows.

Now lads and lassies you may say that is all fine and dandy but what of all the St Patty’s Day traditions and ledgens? They have evolved over the years a little at a time. The Shamrock has become a big symbol. It is thought St Patrick used the three leafed plant to help the pagans understand the holy trinity. The shamrock being green began the tradition of the green while a four leaf clover is considered to bring luck and transformed for us to grasp the little morsel to obtain the luck of the Irish.

Kissing a blarney stone comes from the Blarney castle in Blarney. The stone set in the foundation of the castle is said to hold a spell. Any one that will kiss it will be blessed with eloquent speech. As for other traditions, American school children adopted the pinch for not wearing green. At my elementary school it became the custom to hide your green as in wearing green socks or underwear. It was a great joy to divulge your green attire after the pinch and get to give a free pinch to pincher. Now I wonder if there really was green underwear or if that was muse.

Now American assumed corn beef and cabbage was the dish of the Irish; however cabbage and bacon was the tradition food on St. Patty’s day in Ireland. The cabbage and bacon dish was really a mute option as the holiday is celebrated during lent which generally means fasting from meat. A lass! Eating was minimized so drinking became associated with the day. Along those lines there is a tale imbibing alcohol on St. Patrick's Day from an old Irish legend. As the story goes, St. Patrick was served a measure of WHISKEY that was considerably less than full. St Pat took the opportunity to teach the bar keep a lesson by telling the man a monstrous devil lived in his cellar and fed on his dishonesty. In order to banish him he must change his ways. The bar keeper did and upon his return St. Patrick banished the demon and proclaiming everyone should have a drop of the “hard stuff” on the feast day. This custom is known as Pota Phadraig or “Patrick’s Pot”. It is known as “drowning the shamrock” because it is customary to float a leaf of the plant in the whiskey before downing the shot. This legend would help us see where the green beverages originated.

On March 17t, be my guest to kiss the blarney stone but I’d suggest looking for a nice guy or gal, depending on your gender, sporting a T-shirt informing you they are Irish. While you take a draw of your green beverage be ware it could make you see visions of leprechauns. I’d bet my lucky four leaf clover that they would even lead you to a pot of gold. But then this could all be blarney!"

So if you come to my house in March.....you will be welcome and you may see one of my favorite quotes :

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter
Lullabies, dreams, and love ever after.
Poems and songs with pipes and drums
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes.

Have a fun day on Tuesday and don't forget to wear green.

I will be having my Recipe Club over for an Irish Green Meal.

Thieves in the night

You've heard about people who have been abducted and had
their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years
ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's
thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the
texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and
what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking
for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned
myself to living out my life in jeans.

And then the thieves struck again.

My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang,
because they took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they
had stuck me with earlier. But my new butt was attached at least three
inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in
favor of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched.
One morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the flesh of my
upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush.

This was really getting scary - my body
was being replaced one section at a time.

What could they do to me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a turkey
neck, I decided to tell my story.

Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee!

Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REAL replacement body parts
-stolen from you and me! The next time someone you know has
something 'lifted', look again - was it lifted from you?

THIS IS NOT A HOAX. This is happening to women everywhere, every night.

WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P.S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs. I was lying in bed
and they were gone! But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see
that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept.
Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

Thought this was too 'important' not to pass on.

Have a wonderful day - with a joy filled heart.

BTW... These same thieves come in my closet and shrink my clothes!

How do they do it???? I WONDER?

Chloe Jane's Baptism

Chloe Jane, our oldest granddaughter was baptized February 22nd in Richmond. She turned 8 February 8th. Dana's parents were unable to come in March when they do stake baptisms in Raleigh, so they decided to have it here in Richmond where we still do individual ones.

We had lots of family here.....all of our kids & their families except Jordan and his family, my niece and her husband and baby, and Dana parents. Chelsea and Dana still know and love many of the people from the Gayton ward when they lived here previously, so it was like old home week. They come up fairly often so have renewed friendships with many.

It was a lovely day. We all went to church together. Suz taught RS and had all the girls there. Then we all came home for a big ham dinner and back to the church at 4 for the baptism. Seems like everyone had a part in the program, decorating or refreshments. Greg conducted, Dana's mom gave the talk on the Baptism, I did the talk on the Holy Ghost and Dana' dad did the confirmation. I think Leo and Clayton each gave a prayer. Denton helped with the slide show and DVD presentation. Chelsea. Chloe and Evie sang, and of course Dana did the baptism. Chelsea's good friends and Lindsay helped do decorating, music, refreshments . Aimee Toomey took all these great pictures.

It was a very special day for the all of us but especially for the Wood family and Chloe.

We are looking forward to Ellie's next. She turns 8 in June and will be baptized in Utah. I am hoping to go out west for it.

Financial Planning

In times like these, we must find creative ways to create wealth!

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father in the
family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when
his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share his
fortune.

One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman
he had ever seen.

Her natural beauty took his breath away.

'I may look like just an ordinary man,' he said to her, but in
just afew years, my father will die, and I'll inherit $65 million.'

Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later, she
became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men.
