Halloween 2009 with The Cutest Halloween Grandkids

I always love to post my cute grandkids in their Halloween costumes.....but I have to wait for their parents to send me the pictures. And the big kids too if they dressed up. So I finally got all of them.

I finally got the pictures of the Wood's to post. They had to order a new cord for their camera. Aren't they cute?

Jordan and Melissa do a traditional Halloween party every year. Don't you love Jordan's cute legs as Peter Pan. Melissa ( Wendy) made these darling prizes for her party to give away. The banner and the pillow. They had everyone bring homemade soup and desserts. It was a big crowd and fun party. Melissa made her kids costumes too....Ellie was Pippy Longstocking, Regan was a Zombie Cheerleader, Maddox was a pirate and little Tess was a bunny.....the same costume her big sisters each wore when they were her age.

Denton's kids won Honorable Mention for Hansel and Gretel and the Gingerbred house at our ward Halloween party. They have won first place several years in a row so it is good someone else got first place this year. Denton made the gingerbread house Rocky was wearing....he kept eating the candy off his costume. Boy was he cute.

Chelsea kids dressed up but they haven't sent their pictures yet. They lost the cord to their camera so had to order a new one. I will add their pictures later when they send them. We are already half way into November.

Lindsay and Regan dressed up for a party too as Lucy and Charlie Brown. Lindsay made the costumes. She got her blue dress at a thrift store and then altered and doctored it up. I was very proud of her creativity and resourcefulness.

Greg and I went as senior citizens ( and burritos at Chipotle) Nobody could believe how old we made ourselves look :)

Thanksgiving Time ... For the Beauty of the Earth!

I just love the fall at Thanksgiving time, especially the fall in Virginia. It is breathtaking. I am really so grateful for the beauty of the earth. I love just driving all over. But when home, I am enjoying al my leaves and flowers inside. I posted some of the decor at my house for November. I didn't post everything...just a few. Of course, always my dining table. I made all the flower arrangements. The glass pumpkin jar is our tradition. I have the directions typed in the scarecrow frame. You write all the things and people you are thankful for in the month of November and then we read them all on Thanksgiving or for a Family Home Evening. It is just Greg and I now.....but if you are over for a visit you can participate too. I am trying to write one everyday. I used to fill this pumpkin with candy but this idea is so much sweeter :)

Only A Mother Would Know

Cup of Tea.. One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 3 years old, and someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift. It was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of tea, which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home.My Dad made her sit quietly in another room, so mom could watch me bring dad the cup of tea, because I was so cute. Mom waited, and sure enough, I came walking down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy. Mom watches dad drink from the tea cup. Then she says, (as only a mother would know... :) 'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?

The BIO5 Weekend

While we were having "Grandparents camp", my original 5 kids had siblings weekend in DC. They all stayed together at Clayton's house. He planned the weekend...eating out, eating in, seeing sights and just hanging out. I heard Lindsay and Denton were cooking up some great meals. From all reports it sounds like they had a really good time.They said it has just enough structure and it was very relaxed. Greg and I were so happy they had a chance to re-connect after so many years. They have always been really close and it gets harder to maintain the contact and relationships as the years go by. We hope they will remain good friends and be good to each other no matter how old they get. I was glad to hear the boys gave the girls the bed......we taught them something after all :) They are all really good kids and we are proud of them. Jordan got called into a Bishopric while he was here visiting so got sustained without being present. But the upside of that is that Greg got to ordain him a High Priest Sunday night, which meant a lot to him.

It was nice of their spouses to let them come. Denton just squeaked by because they have a baby due anytime now. Thanks everyone.

The fall in Virginia is so beautiful...you can see why I LOVE living here.

I chose "Amazing Grace" for alot of reasons for the music to go with this post......but mostly because Greg used to play it LOUD on Saturday mornings to wake the kids up for sourdough pancakes. They used to hate that they could never sleep in very late like their friends.....but they are all good workers now because they had to get up to do their chores.

Wonder what time they got up on their get-a-way?

Pumpkin Muffins to Die For!

I got this recipe from a friend. It is unbelievably easy and so so so so good. I won second place at my ward Halloween party tonight. They are so moist you don't even need any butter.

Pumpkin Muffins

1 box spice cake mix ( I used Duncan Hines)

1 can pumpkin ( 15 oz)

1 cup water

Mix together and out into greased muffin tins. Fill almost to the top.

Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. They will be really moist.

Makes 18-24 muffins.
